Reopening of shops smaller than 400 m²

Thus, commercial premises smaller than 400 m² can now reopen to the public, subject to certain strict conditions, including:

  • Establishment of a prior appointment system.
  • Only one customer per employee.
  • Creating a waiting area inside the shop is prohibited.
  • If a distance of 2 meters cannot be maintained, partitions must be installed.
  • A priority service schedule must be established for people over 65.
  • Adherence to specific hygiene measures (among other things, the shop must be disinfected at least twice a day, including once at closing time; work tools and counters must be disinfected with each staff change; uniforms must be disinfected and cleaned daily).

The obligation to have an occupational risk prevention plan

It is important to know that in Spain, in accordance with Law 31/95, all companies employing staff must have implemented an occupational risk prevention plan.

As part of the reopening plan, companies responsible for managing workplace risk prevention ("prevención de riesgos laborales") have established specific processes and can be consulted if there are any doubts about the measures to be applied.

They can also be contacted by the employer to verify the correct implementation of prevention measures during the return to work (inspection by the company manager and certification) and thus protect the employer in terms of liability towards their staff.

In our opinion, you should not hesitate to contact these companies, which are better than anyone else at guaranteeing the return to the "new normal."
